PROJECTS

As a result of national corruption and the mismanagement of our national resources by subsequent governments of Sierra leone since independence, many institutions in the country have deteriorated beyond recognition.

CKC, like other schools that are funded by government, has been deprived of funds. Salaries have gone unpaid for many months. Essential texbooks, teaching aids and equipments have not been supplied , as was previously done. The learning environment can no longer aid in the provision of a quality education.

It is for this reason that we, the Ex- pupils of Christ The King College, resident in the United Kingdom , have decided to raise funds in order to help towards providing a normal learning environment for the present pupils of our former school.

The following projects have been proposed:

1.Renovation and refurbishment of the school buildings which have not received a single coat of paint for more than fifteen years .

2. Provision of essential textbooks , computers and teaching aids to help create a favourable learning environment similar to the one that existed in our days.

3. Re-equipment of the science laboratories

4. Setting up of a scholarship fund for disadvantaged pupils

5. Creation of "twinning " of CKC with a school in the UK.

6. Setting up a revolving fund for the timely payment of staff salaries in order to attract and retain the best teachers.

We have contacted many organisations and we currently have committees working on projects such as the acquisition of used computers, establishment of contacts with schools in theUnited Kingdom to twin with CKC . Contacts have been established with influential people who have offered to support our projects to the best of their abilities.

We have put together a comprehensive document of our projects together with estimates . If you need more information please send us your details so that a copy will be forwarded to you.

We would like to take this opportunity to appeal to all ex-pupils to help us realise our objectives.

We have all benefited from the excellent opportunities that CKC provided for us . It is only fitting that as a sign of appreciation for what we have received , we make a little contribution to help our brothers and sisters who find themselves in such an unfortunate situation today.
